Conner's Concert

At Conner and Jude's school, every grade has a concert at some point during the year. The third grade concert was this week. What's special about the third grade concert is that it is the only year where all the kids play an instrument. Conner got to play the bass xylophone. Here is a short clip of him playing accompaniment. I don't have him playing while the choir is singing because some little kid came and stood right in front of me with a cell phone camera that I don't think he really knew how to use. If I moved, then the other parents filming their kids would have lost their shots. So, this is what I have (the part with the choir went better - not as much unintentional syncopation).

While it's difficult for 20 eight-year-olds to keep a steady beat while in front of a large crowd, I thought they all did a fantastic job. Conner was a little nervous at first, but he soon relaxed and had fun singing all the songs and, well, just being Conner!

Bravo, Conner!

Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn is Here!!!

(Disclaimer - I am a complete, unabashed Twilight Saga fan. While reading the following, stop frequently for the shrieks, squeals, etc. to truly appreciate the feeling behind this post.)

Breaking Dawn is here!!! *shriek* While this is undoubtedly one of the most exciting days of the year, it is always sad to finish off a beloved series. *sniffles* I know, I know. Midnight Sun is in the works, and while I am truly excited to read it, we know what happens to Bell, Edward, and Jacob.

Anyway, I LOVED the book! *I love you Stephenie Meyer!* A friend and I went to the Breaking Dawn concert in Chicago on the 5th. Justin Furstenfeld (Blue October) played several songs (including two new songs that won't be out until February - very good - can't wait). Stephenie also had a Q&A period and she signed everybody's book. She actually signed my copy of Breaking Dawn!! *shriek, squeal, shriek* Oh, wonderful day! Since I'm laying myself out on the chopping block here, I might as well confess it all. The two of us made shirts to wear (can you go to such an event without dressing up?). They were baseball jerseys with "Cullen Baseball" on the front and I had the number 17 with "Edward" above. *shriek* Not that any of that would mean anything to any of you. I know I'm a loser, but at least I'm a happy loser. Doesn't that count for something?

This picture does not do the set justice. It was really very pretty with the huge banners for each book lit up one by one with a very intense, direct spotlight. *squeal*

For anybody interested, don't forget that there are two more important dates this year for all Twilighters! December 12 is the release date for the Twilight movie and December 30 is the release date for the Twilight Saga Compendium!! *shriek*
